Here, the whole family can participate in fun activities and take a stroll along one the many interpretive trails. Located just outside of Pensville, New Jersey, the park is only accessible by a ferry that runs throughout the summer months.
History of Fort Mott
Fort Mott was originally part of a three-fort defense system on the Delaware River. Construction began in 1872 and troops were regularly stationed here until 1943. The two other forts in the complex are the nearby Fort Delaware and Fort DuPont. Multiple gun and mortar batteries are clearly visible from its exterior. The park was opened to the public in 1951 after the state of New Jersey acquired the fort as an important historical site.
