Voorhees State Park

Initially developed as part of Franklin D. Roosevelt's CCC program, Voorhees State Park still provides visitors with a unique way to experience nature. This New Jersey state park is located in Glen Gardner, New Jersey and is open daily from 8 am until 4 pm for activities that range from biking and hiking to fishing and camping.
What visitors can expect
Visitors to Voorhees State Park can expect to spend a vast amount of time enjoying the outdoors the way that FDR intended. There are 7 trails that offer use for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding. Fishing is also allowed at several small ponds within the park. In some areas of the park, hunting is permitted at designated times; these areas are regulated by the Division of Fish and Wildlife.
The observatory
Visitors can see the night sky like never before with the 26-inch Newtonian telescope at the park's observatory. Open since 1965, it is managed by the New Jersey Astronomical Association.
Camping
The park manages 47 sites that are suitable for use for tent or trailer. All campsites are equipped with fire rings and picnic tables, and there is a shared bath house and dumping station. Three cabins are also available for rental from April until October. These can sleep up to 4 people in bunk beds.
Camping and adventuring at Voorhees State Park is an experience that is not soon forgotten. Kids and adults alike can reconnect with nature by hiking, mountain biking or sharing a picnic in the New Jersey forest.
